Suspension Noises and Squeaks? It Is Time for New Control Arms.
High mileage Tesla suspension wears out. Rubber bushings crack, ball joints loosen, and tie rod ends develop play. The result is clunking, squeaking, and imprecise steering. We carry complete control arm replacement kits for every Tesla model that restore factory fresh tightness and handling.

Why Tesla Suspension Wears Out
Tesla vehicles use aluminum control arms with rubber bushings and ball joints that are designed to last for many years under normal driving conditions. However, at higher mileage, the rubber bushings begin to crack and deteriorate, the ball joints develop play, and the tie rod ends loosen up. This is especially common in Tesla Model S and Model X vehicles that have accumulated over 60,000 miles, and in Model 3 and Model Y vehicles driven on rough roads or in climates with extreme temperature swings.
Once the bushings crack, every bump and corner puts stress on the worn joint, causing the familiar clunking and squeaking sounds that many Tesla owners report. The handling also becomes vague and imprecise, and tire wear becomes uneven. The only proper fix is to replace the worn components with fresh control arms that include new bushings and ball joints.
Signs Your Tesla Needs New Control Arms
Clunking Over Bumps
A clunking sound when driving over speed bumps, potholes, or rough pavement is one of the most common signs of worn control arm bushings or ball joints.
Squeaking When Turning
Squeaking or creaking when turning the wheel at low speeds often points to dry or cracked ball joints or tie rod ends that need replacement.
Wandering Steering
If your Tesla feels like it wanders or requires constant small corrections to stay straight, worn tie rod ends or loose control arm bushings are likely the cause.
Uneven Tire Wear
Worn control arms cause the wheel alignment to shift, leading to uneven and accelerated tire wear on the inner or outer edges of the tire.
Vibration at Speed
Loose ball joints or worn bushings can cause vibration felt through the steering wheel or floorboard, particularly at highway speeds.
Pulling to One Side
A vehicle that pulls to one side under braking or acceleration may have uneven bushing wear causing the suspension geometry to shift.
What Worn Control Arm Components Look Like
Worn control arm bushings and a worn ball joint. Note the cracked rubber and deteriorated material.
A severely cracked bushing still installed on a vehicle. This level of wear causes clunking and imprecise handling.
Worn bushing visible from underneath the vehicle. Cracks and separation in the rubber are clear indicators of failure.
