Tein Flex Z — the popular, great-value street coilover
Tein Flex Z
Tein's Flex Z is one of the most popular street coilovers in the Tesla community, and it's easy to see why. It's a Japanese-made, fully height-adjustable kit with 16 levels of damping adjustment and Tein's MSV (Micro Speed Valve) technology for a smooth, refined street ride. It nails the daily-driver brief — a clean drop and a comfortable, controlled feel — at a friendly price. It's our value pick: BC Racing steps a little further ahead on outright damping adjustment and rebuild support, but the Flex Z is a genuinely great, well-loved coilover.
Great for: owners who want a proven, hugely popular street coilover and a tidy stance at the lowest entry price.
- 16-way adjustable damping, full height adjustment
- Japanese-made with Tein MSV valving
- From $1,190 (Model 3 RWD, MSRP)

BC Racing BR Series — the proven, easy-to-live-with all-rounder
BC Racing BR Series
The BR Series is one of the most widely-sold coilover platforms in the world, and that scale is its superpower: 30-way adjustable damping, full height adjustment, inverted monotube front struts, your choice of top mounts, optional Swift spring upgrades, and a famously friendly rebuild and support network. Years down the road, parts and service are easy to get.
Great for: owners who want a long, proven track record, broad spring-rate options, more damping adjustment than the entry kits, and easy rebuildability — a kit you can keep fresh for the long haul.
- 30-way adjustable damping, full height adjustment
- Optional Swift springs & pillowball top mounts
- Fully rebuildable; flat $1,195 across M3 & MY

Silver's NEOMAX — a refined step up for the street
Silver's NEOMAX
Silver's NEOMAX is built around a hardened SAE 52100 piston rod and a monotube design, with 32-way adjustable damping and full height adjustment. The NEOMAX line is tuned to be smooth and composed on the street while still tightening up body control when you push — a nice step up in internal quality and ride polish over entry kits, at a still-reasonable price.
Great for: owners who want a more premium street ride and upgraded internals, without moving into the German-brand price bracket.
- 32-way adjustable damping, full height adjustment
- Hardened piston rod, monotube construction
- $1,399 for Model 3 & Model Y (RWD/AWD)

KW Suspension — German engineering, from set-and-forget to fully tunable
KW V1 → V3 → DDC
KW is the benchmark for refinement and engineering, with stainless "inox-line" bodies and a kit for every level of involvement. The ladder is all about how much control you want:
- KW V1 (from $1,830) — height adjustable with damping that KW pre-tunes from the factory. Set your height and enjoy a polished, OEM-plus ride. No dials to fuss with.
- KW V3 (from $4,120) — independently adjustable rebound and compression damping. This is the enthusiast's tuning benchmark: separate control over how the car settles and how it absorbs hits.
- KW DDC Plug & Play (from $6,700) — electronic, adaptive damping you can adjust on the move. The tech flagship for those who want comfort and sport at the push of a button.
Great for: owners who want the highest level of engineering, refinement, and — as you climb the range — the most damping adjustability available.

So which should you buy?
There's no "bad" choice here — it comes down to budget and how hands-on you want to be with tuning:
- Want the most popular value street coilover and a clean drop for the least? Tein Flex Z.
- Want a proven all-rounder with deep support and more damping adjustment? BC Racing.
- Want a more refined street ride and upgraded internals? Silver's NEOMAX.
- Want German engineering and set-and-forget polish? KW V1.
- Love to tune, or want electronic adjustability? KW V3 (2-way) or KW DDC (electronic).
RWD vs AWD (dual motor)
Drivetrain changes the kit and the price, so always choose the version that matches your exact car — RWD or AWD/Performance.
Pre-refresh vs refreshed (Highland / Juniper)
Tesla revised the Model 3 ("Highland") and Model Y ("Juniper"). We split our catalog so you can pick the right generation: Model 3 pre-refresh, Model 3 refreshed, Model Y pre-refresh, Model Y refreshed.
Comfort vs grip
Want a refined daily with a tidy drop? The Tein Flex Z or BC Racing BR run softer damping beautifully. Chasing the most adjustability for canyon or track use? Step up to BC's 30-way or KW's V3 2-way damping. They're all adjustable, so you're never locked in.
Not sure a full coilover is right?
If you mostly want the lowered look, lowering springs are a simpler entry point. See Coilovers vs Lowering Springs for Your Tesla.

What are the best coilovers for a Tesla Model 3 or Model Y?

Are Tein Flex Z coilovers good for a Tesla?
Yes — the Tein Flex Z is a very popular Japanese-made street coilover with 16-way adjustable damping, full height adjustment, and Tein's MSV valving for a smooth ride. It's an excellent value choice for a Model 3 or Model Y that's mostly street-driven.
Why do some Tesla coilovers cost so much more than others?
As price rises you generally get more damping adjustability — from 16-way, to 30/32-way, to independent 2-way (rebound and compression), to electronic adaptive control — along with higher-end engineering, materials, and refinement.
