The battery management system detected a problem with the charge port, so charging was not available at that moment. Despite the BMS prefix, it points at the charge port connection, not at the health of the high-voltage battery. Tesla's internal name for this alert is BMS_a063_SW_ChargePort_Fault. On both cars where we have seen it, it was logged in the same second as the charge cable losing its connection, which fits a cable that was pulled or came unlatched while charging.
What to do
