The problem
Early Model 3 and Model Y suspension can feel firm in a way you notice every day around here. Expansion joints, patched freeways, sharp driveway lips. Owners call it harsh, crashy, or just tiring after a long commute. That complaint is not rare. It is one of the most common things we hear from pre-refresh owners.
Teslaโs answer
Highland and Juniper got a redesigned suspension aimed at comfort and composure. Tesla fixed the ride in the new cars.
Your path
You do not have to buy a new car. We bring that Tesla-designed hardware to the one you already own.
What the Highland / Juniper upgrade actually is
In plain English, we install refreshed-generation Tesla dampers (and matching springs or hardware where fitment needs them) from the Highland / Juniper design onto a pre-refresh Model 3 or Model Y. The goal is ride comfort: less harshness over sharp hits, a more settled daily feel, using the path Tesla already engineered for the newer cars.
This is not a lowered coilover stance project. It is an OEM-path comfort upgrade. Geometry, bushings, and software still differ from a true Highland or Juniper, so we will not pretend your car becomes a clone. What owners usually notice is damper response and how the car takes rough pavement.
Warranty confidence
Because this follows Teslaโs own redesigned suspension path (not random aftermarket coilovers), you can move forward knowing you are installing the comfort fix Tesla designed, with an OEM-style parts approach that lines up with how factory warranty coverage is meant to work on unrelated systems. We install cleanly, document the work, and stay honest about what changed on the car.
Who this is for
You like your current Model 3 or Model Y. The ride is the weak spot. You want it more comfortable for Bay Area daily miles (280, 101, city streets) without shopping for a whole new car. Comfort is the goal. If you want adjustable height and a lowered look, that is a different conversation (coilovers). If the car already clunks from arms or bushings, we diagnose that first so dampers are not asked to fix a noise they did not cause. See control arm replacement and suspension noise repair.
What a mobile install day looks like
We confirm fitment and goals, set up at your driveway or workplace, pull the wheels, and install the planned Highland / Juniper-path hardware. Related wear items get a look while the car is apart, then a careful road check. Ride Rite does not do alignments on site. If geometry needs a reset, we point you to a local partner. More on how mobile service works across the Bay Area, and brakes while we are under there.
Straight answers
Do I have to buy a Highland or Juniper?
No. Keeping a healthy pre-refresh car and installing Teslaโs redesigned suspension path is exactly what this upgrade is for.
Is this the same as coilovers?
No. Coilovers are for height and tunable aftermarket damping. This kit is Teslaโs comfort redesign on an OEM path.
Will my car feel exactly like a new Highland / Juniper?
It will move ride quality in that direction. It will not copy every difference between generations. Comfort improvement is the win we aim for.
